{"id":1302,"date":"2020-09-14T17:14:51","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T17:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/derpymonster.com\/?post_type=pattern&#038;p=1302"},"modified":"2022-09-10T19:28:20","modified_gmt":"2022-09-10T19:28:20","slug":"crochet-sunflower","status":"publish","type":"pattern","link":"https:\/\/derpymonster.com\/pattern\/crochet-sunflower\/","title":{"rendered":"Crochet Sunflower Coaster"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coaster<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We will start by making the disc in brown yarn (or your preferred color).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rnd 1<\/strong>: ch 2, work 6 dc into first ch - 6 st.<br><strong>Rnd 2<\/strong>: 2 dc in each st around - 12 st.<br><strong>Rnd 3<\/strong>: [2 dc in next st, dc in next st] 6 times - 18 st.<br><strong>Rnd 4:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 st] 6 times - 24 st.<br><strong>Rnd 5:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 3 st] 6 times - 30 st.<br><strong>Rnd 6:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 4 st] 6 times - 36 st.<br><strong>Rnd 7:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 5 st] 6 times - 42 st.<br><strong>Rnd 8:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 6 st] 6 times - 48 st.<br><strong>Rnd 9:<\/strong> [2 dc in next st, dc in next 7 st] 6 times - 54 st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Change color. Now we\u2019ll start making the petals. For the first round of petals, we\u2019ll go around the circle and will leave a dc between each petal. We will make 27 petals in one round (dc + petal).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rnd 10:<\/strong> BLO [dc in next st, ch 10, dc in previous st in the chain, htr in next st, tr in next 3 st, htr in next st, dc in next st, sl st to attach the petal to the circle]. Repeat 27 times to complete the circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Now we\u2019ll make our second round of petals which will go in front of the previous round (FLO). We\u2019ll invert the dc so our two rounds of petals don\u2019t overlap (petal + dc).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rnd 11:<\/strong> FLO [insert hook into st and sl st, ch 10, dc in previous st in the chain, htr in next st, tr in next 3 st, htr in next st, dc in next st, sl st to attach the petal to the circle, dc in next st]. Repeat 27 times to complete the circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Optional:<\/strong> Sew a piece of rubber placemat on the back to make your coaster more rigid and non-slip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are different variations you can make from this pattern.
