I originally made this little zebra as a gift for a friend’s baby. The moment it was finished, I knew I had to write down the pattern.
I wanted Edgar to be extra soft and cuddly, so I used velvet yarn for the head, body, and paws. For the mane, tail, and embroidered eyes, I switched to chunky wool to give them a bit more texture and personality.
At first, I planned for a short mane. But once I started attaching the strands, the hair took on a slightly wild “dreadlocks” look that I absolutely loved. So I kept it just the way it turned out.
And that’s how Edgar came to life.
I hope you enjoy making your own little zebra as much as I enjoyed designing him.
